The ‘freshness’
of pine flooring is defined in
decades rather than months or
even years. New pine flooring
is defined as anything 30 or
less years old, and are usually
softer than their
older counterparts.
Frequently, because of their
high water content, pine flooring
flex and ‘cup’ or
‘dish’ as they dry
out. It’s possible, therefore,
that you will need an aggressive
24 grit endless belt to start
with, but usually the 40 grit
is sufficient. However, if you’re
doing more than 1 room, it would
be more economical to use a
longer-life cloth-backed loading
for the first cut. Our detailed
“how-to” guide which
comes with the machine hire
will give full instructions
on how to get an excellent result
on new pine flooring.
